I am not above critical analysis, but typically if a nonprofit organization is making news, it’s due to scandal. Meanwhile, mission-focused, productive and dynamic nonprofits around the world continue their work with few accolades.
So for the inaugural Talent Round-Up Day here are some nonprofits making it happen:
- The Charlottesville Area Community Foundation celebrated record giving in 2009 despite dire economic predictions.
- The Brooklyn Museum balances respect for artists’ rights, visitor needs and its educational mission in an intriguing series of blog posts about copyright issues, providing evidence that there is nothing to fear from transparency and open communication.
- Kids in Museums (created in response to its founder and her son being thrown out of the Royal Academy of Arts for making too much noise) released their crowd-sourced 2010 Manifesto, offering “20 ways to make a visit family friendly.” [hat-tip to @MLA_gov]
Who else deserves some shine? Let me know and I can feature them in future round-ups!
